Hello, All! We hope that you are just as excited as we are.  It’s less than three weeks until this year’s Sierra Christian Ashram (July 24th-30th). If you haven’t registered yet, then what are you waiting for? Here’s a link to a downloadable brochure. Just print it out and mail in your payment!

Now that you’ve taken care of that, you might be wondering just what it is that you should pack. Here is basic list of necessities for you to refer to.

1. Bible. Very important. Highly useful. Basically the whole point.

2. Notebook, pens, tote. You will be taking notes. It will be awesome… promise.

3. Bedding. The cabins have mattresses but not much else, so you’ll need sheets & blankets, or sleeping bags and, of course, pillows.

4. Toiletries. You may have a private or shared bathroom, but either way, you’ll want to bring soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.  (Toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap are provided by the camp.)

5. Towels! You’ll need them for showers, also for swimming at the Balsam Creek pot holes, Shaver Lake and the camp’s own swimming hole with floating deck.

6. Sunscreen & Bug Spray. An absolute must. You’ll need more than you think!

7. Sturdy shoes. Camp Sierra is built on a mountain after all, and while the rugged paths and trails lend themselves to the picturesque atmosphere, flip-flops just aren’t going to cut it.

8. A Sweatshirt/Jacket. Yes, it’s the middle of summer. Yes, it will be crazy hot during the day. But in the mountains, the nights get pretty cool. You’ll be grateful for the warmth!

9. Flashlights. There aren’t any streetlamps out there in the woods. And once it gets dark, you’ll be wanting all the help you can get for walking to the chapel. You may want to bring batteries, too.

10. Socks/slippers. The cabins are pretty rustic! (Also, bring at least 3-4 extra pairs of socks. They’ll come in handy.)

11. Camera. We are making memories to last a lifetime! You need to record them. And then we can upload them to this site, and/or our facebook group.

12. Water bottle/travel mug. Okay, not strictly a necessity, but very useful all the same. The dining hall is closed between meals, and you just might get thirsty.

13. Dipes & Wipes. If you have little ones, it’s only fair to warn you that the closest place to buy them is Ken’s Market in the town of Shaver Lake, just about 8 miles away.

14. Your faith, questions, troubles and open heart. It’s been a long and troubled year. Take the time for renewal, spiritual refreshment, and christian fellowship.

Can’t wait to see you there!
